Jared Stevenson graduated from North Central Texas College with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Law Enforcement. After completing his degree in May of 2006, Jared was hired by the City of Denton Police Department in June of that same year. “As a native of Lewisville, TX, NCTC was the best choice for me. After taking my first class with Dr. Furdge, I knew I was in the right place.”
While Jared was taking classes at NCTC, he met his wife, Erin and numerous close friends with whom he is still in contact. “I loved the small class sizes and the fact that I was able to interact with not only my professor, but also my classmates.” In 2009 Jared was selected to be a member of the Denton Police Department Tactical Team (SWAT). That same year Jared received a lifesaving award for pulling an intoxicated driver out of his burning car that had flipped and trapped the driver inside. In 2010 Jared was named one of the Texas Gang Investigators of the year by the Texas Gang Investigators Association (TGIA).
“As I enrolled into college, I was not sure I was going to finish. However, the family community I built with my classmates and professors gave me the confidence and the encouragement I needed to complete what I started. I truly believe my experience at NCTC is a major contributor to my success as a police officer with the Denton Police Department.” Jared just recently received the International Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) award in 2017.
